Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and what we do with it.

Last updated October 2026.

Who we are

Top10 Family Lawyers (top10familylawyers.com.au) is published by Steven Piper ("we", "us"). This policy explains how we handle personal information. We aim to handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • When you email us. Your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write.
  • The enquiry form. The form on the "Find a family lawyer" page is not yet active, and nothing entered into it is sent or stored. We'll update this policy before it opens.
  • When you visit the site. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as IP addresses and browser details so it can deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We don't currently use analytics tools. If we add them, we'll update this policy first.

Please don't send us sensitive information

Family law matters often involve sensitive information about health, children, family violence or finances. We don't need any of it, and we ask you not to send it to us. If you do send it, we'll only use it to reply to you and won't keep it longer than we need to.

How we use it

We use your information to reply to you, to correct the site if you've reported an error, and to keep the site secure. We don't sell personal information, and we don't give your details to law firms.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the site and handle email, including Cloudflare for hosting. Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We only share what they need to provide their service. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose we collected it for, then delete it.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a complaint about how we've handled it, by emailing [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
